Through the last seven years the Cosmic Zoom Film Festival has established itself as the premier Copenhagen event for experimental and alternative film. Since 1999 Cosmic Zoom have materialised itself on an almost annual basis in various venues in the Copenhagen underground. The first three years in Den Grå Hal (The grey hall) in Christiania, then two years in Basement on Vesterbro, and finally the last two years in Hal-D on Christianshavn.

Why Cosmic Zoom? Because it’s important to let people experience film and art in surroundings and contexts different from what they are used to. Because little gems of alternative film art might otherwise go unnoticed. Because great filmic and artistic experiences are for everybody. Not just for a select few.

Cosmic Zoom strives to deliver all of this. We screen rare films of artistic integrity in an alternative framing. We let the audience experience art in a liberated way. With no fixed seating or demands for hours of concentration to “see the point”.

We mix the screenings themselves with live music, installation art and colourful surroundings, and do everything we can to create an fantastic alternative to both TV, Video and traditional Cinema.
